FREE 123 Earrings Wire Jewelry Making Tutorial

Let’s go back to some wire work technique and wire jewelry making. Some of the techniques and common terms you’ll come across in making wire jewelry are wrapping, coiling, twisting, looping, spiral, and maybe, there could be many more that you can discover once you get the hang of making wire jewelry. Today, we’re going to share a wire jewelry making tutorial that will use wire wrapping, wire twisting and looping. And as simple as 123, you can create your 123 Earrings.

Using only 3 materials, copper wire, briolette and ear wires you can easily create these earrings quickly, as 1, 2, 3. In this tutorial you’re going to learn how to wire wrap and make loops. You’ll also learn how to quickly make a bail from twisted wire, as well as wire wrapping a briolette.

Prepare the following materials:
0.8mm (20ga) copper wire
0.3mm (28ga) copper wire
8 x 1.20cm (0.5 inches) briolette
2 ear wires

Step 1: Cut 8cm (3 inches) 0.8mm (20 ga) wire. Shape the wire into a circle using a mandrel or any rounded object, leaving at least 1cm (0.4 inches) tail. Then with the 1cm tail, create a loop using your round nose pliers. You have now created your earring frame.

Step 2: Cut 18 inches 0.3mm (28 ga) copper wire. Starting at the base of the loop, wrap the wire onto the earring frame until you cover the whole frame. When you reach the end of the earring frame, adjust the wire a little bit making sure the end of the earring frame reaches the base of the loop. Keep the circular form of the earring frame by continuously wrapping, bringing your 0.3mm (28 ga) inside the loop and wrap several times to secure like shown in this picture. Cut excess wire.

Step 3: Cut 8cm (3 inches) 0.3mm (28 ga) copper wire and slide in a 1.20cm (0.5 inches) briolette. Position the briolette at the center of the wire and cross the wires over each other, creating a triangular shape just above the briolette. Using your thumb and point finger, start twisting the wires until you reach its end.

Step 4: Take your earring frame and insert the twisted wire into the loop. Wrap the twisted wire around and under the loop and then over the triangular shape. Wrap the twisted wire tightly, several times, onto the triangular shape until you bring the wires together. Cut the excess twisted wire. You have now created a dangle, attached on your earring frame.

Step 5: Take another briolette and repeat the previous step, but this time, wrap the twisted wire onto the earring frame placing the briolette at the center.

Step 6: Create 2 more dangling briolette and position one on the left and one on the right of the center briolette. Create another set and attach your ear wires.

That's it! See? I told you...as easy as 1, 2, 3...
